The Mekong is a river that flows through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam and empties into the East (South China) Sea. The Mekong Delta (the Delta of the Nine Dragons) is a region in the southwestern part of Vietnam where the Mekong River flows into the sea, before dividing into many branches.More than 70 million people depend on this important water source. However, garbage dumping into the river has made it one of the 10 most polluted rivers in the world.
